Job Description:
Tetra Tech ARD (www.tetratechintdev) is currently
accepting expressions of interest from well-qualified
candidates for a part-time Internal Auditor position.
The part-time Internal Auditor will join our full-time
Internal Auditor and is responsible for the timely
execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance
with the annual audit plan and guarantee compliance with
Tetra Tech ARD’s and USAID’s financial management
standards and procurement rules and regulations within
host countries. Reporting to the Vice President of
Administration and under the direction of the Audit
Committee, the Internal Auditor plays a key role in the
company’s overall internal audit function to provide
permanent quality assurance of internal control systems
by operating as an independent structure within the
organization. This position may be part-time or a
consultancy and has the possibility of becoming
permanent and full-time. The Internal Auditor may be
based in Burlington, VT, the Washington, DC area or
another location.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Audit Committee to guarantee that
systems are in place that ensure all major risks are
identified and analyzed on an annual basis;
  • Identify and mitigate fraud, waste and abuse;
  • Plan, organize and carry out the annual internal audit
plan, including the design of individual audit plans for
specific target areas;
  • Conduct any reviews or tasks requested by Audit
Committee provided that such reviews and tasks do not
compromise the independence or objectivity of the
internal audit function;
  • Submit quarterly written reports to Audit Committee
that include findings, recommendations on the systems
and procedures being reviewed, and management's response
and implementation recommendations;
  • Review and report on the accuracy, timeliness and
relevance of financial and other information that is
provided for management;
  • Coordinate coverage with the current Internal Auditor
and external auditors and ensure that each is aware of
the other's work and concerns;
  • Provide Audit Committee with an annual analysis of
overall internal controls in the company;
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective use of USAID
resources by educating staff on issues of ethics, codes
of conduct and use of the Tetra Tech ARD Whistle Blower
Hotline; and
  • Anticipated 50% or more international travel to
transitioning and developing countries.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or
finance;
  • Minimum of four (4) years of public or internal
auditing experience and three years of accounting and/or
finance experience;
  • Prior experience working in post conflict,
transitioning, or developing countries required;
  • Knowledge of Federal cost regulations, OMB circulars
and USAID rules and regulations;
  • Solid knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting
Practices and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas and issues both
verbally and in writing;
  • Pro-active work style and ability to work with little
or no supervision;
  • Speaking and reading proficiency in a foreign
language: French, Arabic or Spanish highly preferred;
  • Strong leadership, managerial and diplomatic skills;
  • High level proficiency in MS Office applications;
  • High level proficiency in data entry and database
management;
  • Very strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • High level multi-tasking capabilities;
  • Energetic and enthusiastic collaborative team player;
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced and
sometimes intense work environment;
  • Ability to travel internationally (about 50% of time)
and participate in frequent short-term field work; and
  • U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is an
absolute requirement.
