The Internal Communications, Senior Writer supports the Information Technology and Investment Operations functions by writing original content and creating effective communications that help to align associates to business strategy and contribute to high levels of associate engagement. In this role you will consult with senior business leaders and translate their vision into impactful messages. The position requires excellent verbal and written communications skills, the ability to build effective working relationships with senior business leaders and a diverse group of individuals within and outside the organization.

The successful candidate will possess a deep background in corporate internal communications, a solid understanding of information technology, and knowledge of the asset management industry. As an individual contributor in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will enjoy a variety of work responsibilities. The Internal Communications, Senior Writer will work closely with The Capital Group Companies Corporate Communications team to ensure that IT and Investment Operations messaging aligns with messaging across the entire Capital Group organization.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Develops original content by collaborating with stake holders to determine strategic objectives and themes for content
  • Develops and writes content and messages to be delivered via a variety of media (Web, print, video, etc.)
  • Ensures the look, feel and tone of communication within the IT and Investment Operations groups is consistent with corporate standards
  • Synthesizes information and perspectives from various stake holders to create cohesive messages
  • Updates materials to reflect current tone, statistics and time frames
  • Ensures content adheres to corporate brand standards, style guides, and legal requirements
  • Manages communication projects by establishing goals, guiding project team and delegating responsibilities to appropriate internal business partners
  • Liaises with other business groups to ensure consistency of messaging and/or appropriate sequencing of communication
  • Coaches and mentors other writers
  • Keeps abreast of company, industry and regulatory changes, and internal initiatives


  • Hiring Criteria
    Hiring Criteria:

  • Seven to 10 years of hands-on internal/employee communications experience
  • Excellent writing and editing skills (writing samples required); a commitment to producing consistently high-quality communications
  • Strong project management skills
  • Initiative to identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Ability to influence people at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to evaluate and appropriately address issues of privacy and confidentiality
  • IT and/or asset management industry background preferred
  • Experience with SharePoint and other Web-related software programs is a plus
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, English, Journalism preferred
