DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will be responsible for the activities and teams related to import and export operations, transportation, custom clearance, documents management, and ensuring compliance and practice reasonable care in international trade.

DUTIES

  • Perform a thorough and documented HTS compliance review of each product to ensure compliance with Customs requirements. Serve as in-house resource for tariff classifications, and other related trade compliance and regulatory matters
  • Monitor and support broker compliance.
  • Intercede with broker and Customs as necessary to ensure compliance and expedite entry release.
  • Monitor international shipments moving, provide shipment visibility and status, and ensure delivery on time, monitor and manage brokerage, forwarding, and steamship lines, and air freight provider.
  • Review quantity discrepancy reports from the receiving team and intercede with the broker to amend the Customs entries and align Letters of Credit as necessary.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of best practices both internally and externally to continue to raise the bar on the logistic Department.
  • Assist with the development and enforcement of import/export compliance policies and procedures, including but not limited to Customs, C-TPAT, NAFTA, ISF etc
  • Maintain communication with vendors, buyers, Customs, custom broker, forwarder and steamship lines, along with internal and external customers to enhance productivity, compliance and relations for business accuracy.
  • Assist with updating the Import Vendor Instructions as well as educating merchants and vendors providing documentation reviews, advice and constructive feedback.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Experience in a fast paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS with a major in, Business, Logistics, Imports or a closely related field.
  • 2 years experience or (5 years in lieu of degree) with a progressive track record of increasing responsibility Brokerage or International Forwarding Company.
  • International customs clearance and filing experience
  • Ability to understand and interpret Harmonized Tariff Codes, extensive knowledge of import and export rules and regulations as published by the U. S. CBP, and the ability to execute clearances and filings on behalf of customers/clients and the company.
  • Familiarity with International transportation marketplace and freight systems
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Possesses proven problem analysis and solution development skills
  • Ability to multitask in a time sensitive environment
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office skills with a heavy emphasis on Excel.
  • Bi-lingual (Chinese) is a plus
