United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) is looking for a dedicated counsel who will partner with other members of the company and play a leadership role in the strategic development and implementation of company-wide international trade compliance policies and programs. This covers all applicable aspects of the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and related statutes and regulations. This selected candidate will be a member of the UTRC Legal Department and report to UTRC Counsel & International Trade Compliance Director, and will be responsible for:

-Providing strategic development of company-wide compliance policies and programs. This includes developing and periodically reviewing and updating compliance policies to ensure continuing currency and relevance;
-Participate in and conduct audits, internal investigations and the development of resulting corrective actions associated with export compliance enhancement activities and will work with the audit/investigations team in identifying compliance enhancement opportunities and preparing, designing and implementing corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies;
-Assist in the preparation of factual summaries and whitepapers and will cooperate with team members and various business units to resolve compliance matters, preparing where necessary, needed USG filings;
-Enhancing the international trade compliance program by driving the implementation of key global policies and procedures, communication strategies, employee training and key compliance-related controls;
-Taking a project leadership role in compliance enhancement initiatives by collaborating with other departments (Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, Supply Chain, etc.) and leading cross-functional teams;

BA/BS degree w/5+ years experience and JD with 4+ years experience, preferably with U.S. export & import regulations.

-Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including a solid executive presence;
-Must be a strong leader and individual contributor, with excellent judgment and professional maturity;
-Demonstrated ability to manage multi-task, multi-deadline, cross-functional projects effectively and on time;
-Demonstrated ability to work with minimal daily supervision as a member of both business teams and the ITC organization, and to balance numerous priorities within compressed time frames;
-Must be an excellent advisor and business partner, able to see "the big picture," yet understand the necessity and importance of being meticulous and addressing details;
-Able to remain calm and composed under pressure, in a fast-paced environment of rapidly changing demands;
-Background within an aerospace manufacturing or research environment preferred, but not required;
-Compliance risk assessment, risk management or audit experience a plus;
