As an ambassador of Eataly products and services, our Inventory Controls Manager is responsible for helping to create and maintain quality experiences for each guest that comes to Eataly. Eataly ambassadors are expected to actively engage with guests and spend quality time with each customer.
Job Title: Inventory Controls Manager
Reports To: Controller
The main function of the Inventory Controls Manager is to ensure inventory valuations are correctly represented on financial statements. Candidates must have background in accounting and finance, and be able to demonstrate understanding of how inventory inflows and outflows impact the general ledger.
The ICM will work closely with buyers across all Eataly departments, first learning their ordering and receiving procedures. He or she will then perform analyses using transaction data combined with the buyers’ knowledge to identify items for monthly cycle counts. It will be the ICM’s responsibility to coordinate the timing of the counts with the buyers and department managers according to the schedule of deliverables set by the Controller.
Other responsibilities will be uncovering inaccuracies in receiving and transfer entries, and tracing them to the source so corrections are made before valuations are reported to the Controller. The ICM will also post entries affecting inventory balances for the purpose of creating and distributing departmental month-end P&Ls. Furthermore, the ICM will assist the Finance Manager with the maintenance of fixed assets inventory.
The position requires use of several computer-based tools. Candidates must be able to demonstrate intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including use of VLOOKUP and pivot tables. Additionally, candidates must be able to use technology with ease and familiarity, working primarily in digital formats of documents – reliance on paper based material should be kept to a minimum.
Candidates must be affable and able to collaborate with diverse personalities. The learning curve is steep; hours outside of the normal business day will be expected especially in the beginning, and then from time to time as required. The position is based in the New York corporate office but occasional travel to Chicago and future stores will be necessary as determined by the Controller.
• Four-year Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Engineering
