This challenging and rewarding position plays an important role in protecting the integrity of trading on the world’s largest derivatives marketplace. Investigators are responsible for conducting surveillance of market activity across CME Group’s very diverse product portfolio and develop a deep understanding of market fundamentals and trading practices, as well as surveillance and investigative techniques. Investigators conduct investigations of potential misconduct by employing sophisticated regulatory systems, analysis and investigative expertise to examine complex transactional data, documentary evidence, and audio and video data to assess compliance with exchange rules. Investigators also routinely conduct interviews of parties involved in investigations, prepare investigative reports and assist in the presentation of cases to exchange disciplinary panels.
Investigators enjoy significant diversity in their work, including a range of assignments that span multiple asset classes, independent as well as team-oriented work, and varied project assignments related to the department’s regulatory functions. The department’s work is challenging and interesting, requiring a diverse set of skills, and the position provides broad exposure to the industry as well as significant growth opportunities.
Investigators come from a wide variety of academic backgrounds and require excellent analytical and problem solving skills, intellectual curiosity and initiative, strong written and oral communication skills, and facility in working with data and systems. A high level of professionalism, the ability to work well with others and the capacity to learn quickly are also critical attributes.
Candidates must have a Bachelor degree. Prior industry experience is preferred and a post graduate degree is desirable.
