The EEO (Equal Employment Opportunity) Office is responsible for implementing programs and policies which provide employees and applicants for employment equal opportunity in all employment decisions. The EEO Office investigates and resolves complaints of unlawful discrimination and harassment, in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, reviews requests for reasonable accommodations pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and oversees Parks EEO training programs.
• Under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment, assist with investigating claims of work place harassment and discrimination.
• Collect and verify data and evidence, conduct surveillance, examine and analyze agency and employee records, interview and interrogate subjects and interview witnesses.
• Maintain case records and investigative files, prepare related correspondence and reports, and make recommendations for appropriate action to be taken following investigations.
• Analyze and evaluate existing and proposed agency procedures.
• Work in close coordination with other government investigative agencies.
• Testify at administrative and/or court proceedings when warranted.
• Work in the field and office.
Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in one or more of the fields of accounting, auditing, correction administration, criminal justice administration and planning, forensic science, inspection, investigation, law enforcement, personnel administration, police science, and security, or in a major operational area of the agency in which the appointment is to be made; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
Preferred Skills
1. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in criminal justice, public administration or related field.
2. Excellent writing, research and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to handle confidential matters.
4. Valid New York State driver license.

Residency Requirement
Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required for all other candidates within 90 days of appointment.
