This position is assigned to the Investigations Division and is responsible for conducting investigations of criminal violations, including but not limited to major crimes, special victims, murder, arson, and sexual assault, as well as violations of university regulations.
The Investigator is responsible for all phases of case management from preliminary investigation to final disposition, including presenting cases for adjudication or prosecution. Additionally, the Investigator is responsible for providing expert insight into incidents and facilitating educational programs.
Investigators are considered essential personnel and are required to work during inclement weather and other emergencies. This position will be required to work overtime and serve on call.
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Diplomas and degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment.
