The Investment Associate will work with the Director of Investments to accelerate job growth and economic development in the Massachusetts Clean Energy Industry. The Associate will work along with a Senior Associate to develop and manage seed and venture equity investment programs designed to catalyze job creation in the most promising clean energy companies.
Track, analyze and evaluate new clean energy business opportunities; Evaluate and review applications for funding and supporting materials, and conduct due diligence, including business plan evaluation, general, financial, and technical due diligence; Draft and present investment recommendation and draft terms and conditions to the Director; Negotiate closing terms and conditions of MassCEC investment with companies, co-investors in consultation with officers and legal counsel; Provide assistance and feedback to portfolio companies and recommend to the Director any actions to be taken by the company; Stay up to date on clean energy industry trends to ensure MassCEC industry support programs are relevant and resources focused on the best opportunities; Perform research of other state fund programs and related organizations and assist in the development of new initiatives to support the growth of a competitive, sustainable clean energy industry in Massachusetts; Develop and provide business support services to small companies looking for support from the company; Act as the liaison with the clean energy sector and represent the us at meetings, conferences and working sessions; Operate and maintain the customer relationship management system (CRM); and Other tasks as directed by the Director or Senior Associate.
Undergraduate university degree with top academic standing;
3+ years work experience; investment banking or strategy consulting preferred;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proof of experience drafting investment memoranda;
Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to obtain and review complex information and clearly articulate conclusions and associated recommendations;
Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively; and
Interest in clean energy technology and a demonstrated aptitude to understand complex and new products, systems, innovations and business concepts as well as market opportunities and challenges.
