Investment Strategies & Solutions (IS&S) has oversight and monitoring responsibilities for registered funds and non-registered separate account investments in Corporate Benefit Funding (CBF). The group serves as the in-house investment resource for CBF, as well as liaison between CBF lines of business and investment managers. Products offered by these lines of business support pension plans, 401(k) plans, executive deferred compensation plans and funding for other post-retirement benefit plans.
Assist in the evaluation, selection, and continuing oversight of the investment manager platform supporting institutional separate accounts and registered funds capabilities.
Conduct due diligence of investment managers as part of the manager search and selection process and perform ongoing monitoring and evaluation of investment activities for assigned managers and portfolios.
Conduct onsite investment review meetings with investment managers to support either selection or monitoring processes.
Run and evaluate performance attribution analysis for assigned portfolios to be included in quarterly reports.
Provide quantitative, qualitative and peer group analysis of investment managers.
Utilize investment-related software to assist in the evaluation of managers’ products.
Support the coordination, preparation and timely delivery of quarterly report materials.
Work with MetLife business partners to ensure prompt and accurate performance and other investment-related communications for client and consultant reporting.
Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of CBF product lines to ensure high quality analysis.
Effectively communicate and promote IS&S’s investment capabilities and approach within MetLife business units.
Serve as a resource and project leader for junior staff members.
Bachelors degree required, preferably in Finance, Economics or other related discipline; CFA, CIMA, or MBA preferred.
Five to ten years of (i) investment manager evaluation experience in an investment consulting firm, (ii) product management experience in an investment management firm, or (iii) the equivalent.
Experience with a broad array of asset managers, investment strategies (products) and styles.
Strong analytic and research (investigative) skills.
Proficiency with the investment analytic tools from Bloomberg, Morningstar/Ibbotson, Callan, FactSet, and eVestment Alliance helpful.
Effective “individual contributor” (re time management, written and oral communication skills, etc.) and reliable team player (collaborating with a wide range of internal and external colleagues).
Must be able to travel 25% of the time, including some overnight travel.
FINRA registration as a Registered Representative (Series 6 license) will be required (if candidate is not already a Registered Representative).
