The City of Fort Worth is hiring a Skilled Trades Technician II Journeyman Electrician for the Transportation and Public Works Department Facilities Management. Essential functions are to plan and participate in all phases of rough and finished wiring work involved in the installation of conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, and switches required by new or existing electrical systems; test, locate and repair trouble in electrical circuits and equipment; and repair and replace motors, pumps, generators, and other fixtures or appliances. The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
High School Diploma or GED supplemented by specialized training in electrical maintenance, repair, or industrial instrumentation training PLUS four (4) years responsible experience as an electrician in the construction, maintenance or industrial instrumentation. Preference will be given to applicants who have four (4) years of commercial installation and repair experience. Troubleshooting skills and the ability to read and interpret blueprints required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Texas drivers license is required. Certification as a Journeyman Electrician is required. Masters license is preferred.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS: City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.
Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to extremes in weather conditions; work with electrical energy; work on ladders or scaffolds, around moving vehicles or equipment; exposure to dust, cleaners and lubricants, fumes, vibrations and noise.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; moderate and heavy lifting and carrying loads of more than 50 lbs.; pulling, reaching, bending, climbing and kneeling; use of fingers, both hands and both legs required. Must be able to distinguish colors; must be able to operate assigned vehicles.
