Job Summary

The University of St. Thomas, Division of Information Resources and Technology (IRT) seeks a Java Application Developer to support enterprise level web-based applications which are used to support instructional and institutional business requirements.

This position ensures continuous web-based application availability to hundreds of users and successful development and implementation of new applications or enhancements to existing applications; applies technical expertise and knowledge of instructional and/or institutional process to provide design and scope recommendations for both management and client for enterprise level projects; follows approved life cycle methodologies; creates design documents, performs coding and testing; resolves technical issues through debugging and investigation; and researches and makes recommendations for solutions to technical challenges.

This position is expected to maximize the University’s investment in web technologies and how they interact with the University’s systems of record via undergraduate and graduate on-line applications, directory interfaces, databases queries and reports while focusing on customer service and satisfaction in a team-based environment.

Qualifications

BA/BS in computer science or 2 years of experience.

Must have object oriented development experience. Experience can be from Java/J2EE or .Net/C#.

Candidate should have experience developing web applications backed by relational databases. Preferred skills include experience with WordPress, Spring 2.5+/MVC, Eclipse, Oracle WebLogic/SQL 11g, MS SQL, JavaScript/jQuery, UNIX/Linux, JSP, PHP, CSS, HTML, XML

Ideal candidate will be customer service and team driven with strong interpersonal skills, experience in project management, strong organizational, and presentation skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ability to adapt to a rapidly changing web development field is required.
