We are looking for one or more experienced Journeyman Lineman to join the Xcel Energy team in La Crosse, Wisconsin!
This position will work as part of an electric line crew operation and perform duties of the lineman classification involving construction, maintenance and emergency repairs of all overhead and underground distribution and transmission systems in Xcel Energy service territory. This position may also be required to fill the position of relief Troubleman in the service territory, which would involve shift work.
The successful candidate will be required to reside within 20 miles of the reporting headquarters. Relocation of the employee's household to the immediate area of the reporting headquarters is required within 6 months of employment and will be the responsibility of the employee.
The successful candidate will start out at the Journeyman status. The wage rate will be at the Lineman rate of pay. The successful candidate will be evaluated by a group of individuals which includes the supervisor, a JAC (Joint Apprenticeship Committee) member and work group peers by using the Lineman Apprentice check-off manual to determine the appropriate step prior to the expiration of the probationary period. If performance and experience do not rate full journeyman status, an advanced step and wage rate may be applied

High School graduate or equivalent.
Technical School Lineman degree or equivalent is required.
Must presently be qualified to be a Journeyman Lineman. Documentation of completion of a journeyman lineman program is required.
Experience with digger derricks, bucket trucks, trenchers, and groundwork with utility crews is required.
Must be able to work at heights up to and above 100 feet.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home.
Must be mentally competent; able to communicate effectively; have good teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimum customer service.
Must be able to work additional hours, respond to after hours and weekend call outs.
A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times.
Must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391 including the possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License Class A.
This job will require the ability to work in an efficient manner while performing the essential responsibilities of the position which may include:
A. Lifting and maneuvering up to 50 lbs.
B. Being able to work at heights up to and above 100 feet.
C. Being able to climb wood poles up to and above 100 feet tall
D. Using shovels, sledge hammers and jack hammers and other similar labor intensive tools
E. Working in confined areas, which will include bending and stooping.
