Our direct client in NY City has a contract to hire opportunity for an Application Systems Developer within their Technology Infrastructure, Network Software & IT Enablement Systems group. The ideal candidate will participate in development of systems and network monitoring and management tools, DNS architecture, and IP telephone system as well as documentation of procedures for installation, use, maintenance, troubleshooting, and management of same. Assist in evaluation and installation of data communication products. Be responsible for various other software development and software/system administration tasks and other duties as required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with diverse personalities and working styles. Interact directly with customers to identify and resolve project issues, so must have great customer relationship management skills. Required Experience: 3+ years related work experience. Candidates MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant. Detailed knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite. Demonstrated ability to write effective computer programs using Perl, PHP, UNIX shell scripting, and C/C++. Network Management and Monitoring protocols and best practices (SNMP, Netflow, etc). Demonstrated ability to install, administer, and maintain secure UNIX, Linux, and Windows (NT, 2000, XP) environments. Working knowledge of SQL required. Knowledge of at least one relational database system (Mysql, postgresql, Oracle or MSSQL) required. Working knowledge of RPMs, DNS/DHCP/PXE, SNMP, SMTP, Active Directory a plus, RADIUS Authentication/authorization, Cfengine or at least the concepts of binary/configuration management. Occasional after-hours work and will participate in 24x7 "on call" rotations Security: Basic principles of systems and network security. Understanding of host-based firewalls ACLs. Provide overall client requirements analysis Excellent written and verbal communications
