The Junior Protection and Control Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating technical aspects of substation protection and control projects. In this position, you will:
Responsible for design of protection schemes for industrial, balance of plant, and utility substation applications including one-lines, three-lines, DC schematics, and relay settings
Work with / lead a design team to develop panel and interconnect wiring as well as panel layouts and elevations
Provide performance based and economic evaluations, selection, application, settings, operational analysis, and maintenance practices of protection schemes and devices
Evaluate the interoperability, control features, and communication / protocol aspects of protective relays
Coordinate with and provide technical assistance to Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) engineers, substation physical engineers, and control design staff in order to fully develop system integration of protection, control, and monitoring systems
Work with team to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives
Perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, relay setting coordination, and transient studies
Train end-users on the theory, operational use, and maintenance of integrated protection and control systems
support factory acceptance testing and site testing & commissioning
Developing outage, cut-over, and testing procedures
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or an Engineering discipline
Ability and willingness to travel (including international)
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Masters in Electrical Engineering in power systems with emphasis on faulted power systems and protective relaying
Minimum of 3 years of experience in utility protection and control design, settings development, communication systems and maintenance practices for transmission, distribution, and generation protection applications
Prior GE Experience (GE Employees Only)
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Excellent computer skills, including automation tools, and familiarity with AutoCAD / Microstation
EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license in United States
Knowledge of Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and CSA standards
Strong understanding of safety, operating, maintenance, and testing practices common to utility substations, transmission, and generation facilities
SCADA or Substation Physical design experience
Planning & Control (P&C) field testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience
Strong presence in front of customer with demonstrated commercial experience
Knowledge of Unauthorized Commitment Approval (UCA), GOOSE messaging, International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61850, and logic development in protection IED’s
