Role Purpose
Publicize and promote NBC Sports Group programming in accordance with the overall strategy and brand positioning

Responsibilities
  • Write, distribute and pitch press releases to various outlets for a large number of NBC Sports Group properties and information functions
  • Interact with talent at various levels, including arranging interviews
  • Pitch stories to journalists that will shed positive light on NBC Sports Group and executives
  • Assist with press strategy, media inquiries, and events for NBC Sports Group portfolio brands and leadership
  • Update NBC Sports Group Press Box as needed
  • Create, manage and evolve press lists for NBC Sports Group press releases
  • Coordinate with other areas of NBC Sports Group, specifically Talent, Production, Programming, and Marketing on a daily basis
  • Identify, establish, & maintain personal relationships with key contacts in the press and Sports industry partners
  • Assist in managing the division’s image and communications via new media outlets, including internal communications
  • Attend events and assist in the management of on-site media relations
  • Field press inquiries

    Qualifications/Requirements
    Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations
  • Minimum two (2) years working in public relations and/or Sports industry
  • Must have excellent writing skills
  • Must have a passion for Sports
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be a self-starter, assertive, enthusiastic and highly motivated
  • Must be detail-oriented, focused and organized
  • Must be resourceful and be able to multitask and prioritize
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to exhibit flexibility, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, and high-energy environment, with capability to work within target deadlines

    Desired Characteristics
  • Experience writing press releases a strong plus
  • Understanding of TV Sports industry, ratings, and processes a strong plus
