Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct controlled crosses between Aluminum-tolerant and Aluminum-sensitive ecotypes or mutant lines of the pasture legume, Medicago truncatula.

Phenotype resulting progeny for segregating responses to Aluminum-toxicity.

Extract DNA for Restriction-Associated DNA marker analysis.

Write results for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD from an accredited college or university in crop science, horticulture, agronomy, soil sciences or related field.

Ability to conduct research in plant breeding, tolerance to abiotic stresses, and genetic analysis of markers associated with abiotic stress tolerance.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in hand-pollination of Medicago truncatula, or related legume species.

Experience in phenotypic evaluation of resistance to abiotic stresses, such as aluminum toxicity.

Experience in DNA extraction and interpretation of genetic marker data, particularly single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPS).
