We're looking for a self-starter who can work autonomously and has a strong passion for helping others. In this role you'll support users around the organisation, assist with projects, and learn about the business in the best possible place. This position offers potential for advancement into a more senior role or into other groups at Atlassian.

Systems Administration is a small, global, enthusiastic team with a goal of enabling other teams at Atlassian to do awesome things by creating, supporting and improving our systems and infrastructure. The majority of the team is based in Sydney, with members in San Francisco and Amsterdam.

What You'll Do

Desktop support of both technical and non technical users (e.g. software developers, support, marketing)

Identify areas for process improvement and develop automated solutions

Train users and find better methods of interaction with these users

Carry out routine procedures (e.g. user management across multiple applications)

Assist with projects involving our critical production infrastructure and networks

Manage information in our wiki

Document key procedures and maintain documentation according to standards

Support our VOIP and Video Conferencing systems

Key Skills

A passion for helping others and the attitude to match

The ability to self-start and work well without supervision

The ability to analyse requests, prioritise them and keep users adequately informed

Experience identifying issues, diagnosing, and carrying them through to resolution

Knowledge of Windows, Apple and Linux operating systems and applications

Experience with PC and Apple hardware

Ability to create and edit documentation to a standard, including documentation written by others

Ability to take in a massive amount of new information in a short time

A passion for process improvement, and the ability to identify areas for efficiency gains

Additional Preferred Skills and Experience

Information management skills, such as organising a company wiki

Foundation in scripting/programming

Familiarity with inventory management systems

Knowledge of *nix desktop systems and applications

Knowledge of networking hardware (Cisco), software and protocols (IP, DNS, DHCP, etc)

Familiarity with VOIP systems (Switchvox)

Previous experience with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence etc)

Experience with Java and related technologies

Typical Experience

A brilliant graduate passionate about process improvement with a foundation in scripting/development.

A desktop support or helpdesk engineer who wants to make a broader impact and is able to quickly grasp new technical concepts.
