Manages, directs and coordinates the daily operations of the Jury Division for DeKalb County Courts in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Duties:

Manages, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals.

Represents division in meetings, hearings and presentations.

Provides the various courts with statistics regarding jury trials, juror usage, and juror expenses.

Prepares and conducts juror orientation on a daily basis.

Coordinates with technical personnel in the modification of systems applications.

Compiles informational and statistical reports relating to juror issues.

Coordinates the compilation of jury boxes in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Evaluates, recommends and implements policies and procedures for the jury division.

Reports to superiors any changes that need to be made in the jury system.

Participates in various upgrades to the jury system.

Oversees the daily operation of the Jury Division, including the jury management software.

Investigates and resolves questions, issues, and technical problems related to the jury system and jury service.

Prepares technical and analytical reports and administrative correspondence.

Develops performance measurements for assigned staff.

Ensures compliance with County codes and all applicable Federal, State and local laws governing the jury system.

Oversees the use of the County master jury list in accordance with the State law.

Monitors the number of available jurors and coordinates with court schedules to insure that the appropriate number of jurors are summoned and available as needed.

Conducts juror orientation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or a related field; six years of experience managing a court program or providing management in a court system or legal environment, including two years supervisory experience. Experience with and knowledge of the legal requirements regarding the Georgia jury system is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.

This is a Merit-Exempt position in Superior Court.
