Scope: The director of broadcast operations will lead a team of professionals dedicated to providing a quality public radio service through KACU-FM and non-commercial television through KUF-TV Channel 7. KACU is National Public Radio affiliate with current plans to expand to broadcasting digital HD1 and HD2 signals. KUF is a low-power television station with a commercial license from the Federal Communications Commission; its signal also is carried to the Abilene community via cable. The primary purpose of KACU-FM and KUF-TV is to provide educational opportunities and experience for students of the Journalism and Mass Communication Department and to provide quality broadcast product to the community. The director of broadcast operations/general manager of KACU-FM answers to the chair of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication.
I. Basic Responsibilities
A. Supervise quality of off-air signals for both radio and TV
B. Serve as General Manager of KACU-FM and KUF-TV
Co-ordinate KACU duties as needed with KACU Operations Director
C. Must have knowledge of CPB and FCC requirements
D. Hire, coordinate and when appropriate delegate supervision of radio and television full-time, part-time and student employees for TV and radio.
II. Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.
A. Support efforts of multimedia student agency advisors as requested.
B. Maintain overall supervision of TV studio and video labs and KACU studio, delegating these tasks as appropriate.
C. Responsible for radio and TV budgets; supervision of staff member who serves as the budget manager.
D. Co-ordinate radio and TV production with advisors of Optimist/JMC Network when requested to do so by Optimist/JMC Network advisor.
E. Work with engineer and JMC chair on tasks related to renovation of TV broadcast facility to HD video facility

Experience with music and/or news programming for broadcast
ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.
A. Professional - Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Radio/Television, Mass Communication, Digital Media or related field.
Five years management experience.
Knowledge of new radio and television technologies.
Ability to work with engineering staff.
Ability to write grants and work with grant writers.
Knowledge of the public radio program delivery systems and satellite delivery systems a plus.
Knowledge of public radio programming options and funding sources.
Knowledge of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting budgets and Community Service Grant requirements provided to public radio stations and CPB grants for television.
Ability to work with students and staff
