CARE is seeking an experience ECB Knowledge Management and Learning Coordinator (KMLC) to support the achievement of the Emergency Capacity Building (ECB) Project goals through three key functions. First, s/he will lead on the implementation of the Project Knowledge Management and Learning strategy with a focus on ensuring continual improvement in the quality of ECB’s work and on developing a vibrant knowledge sharing and learning community within the Project. Second, s/he will act as custodian of the ECB knowledge products and tools. And third, s/he will provide support to the three cross-cutting thematic advisory groups.

In addition to these specific responsibilities, the ECB Knowledge Management and Learning Coordinator will be an active member of the ECB Project Staff team, support the ECB Project Director and lead or participate in special projects as required.

The Project is a collaborative initiative of six agencies of the Interagency Working Group (IWG) on Emergency Capacity: CARE, Catholic Relief Services, Mercy Corps, Oxfam, Save the Children, and World Vision. The ECB Project is currently implementing a five year second phase, with funding from the Gates Foundation and ECHO, along with other donors. In Phase II, ECB works collaboratively at field, organizational and sector levels to improve the speed, quality and effectiveness of the humanitarian community in saving lives, safeguarding the livelihoods and defending the rights of people affected by disasters and emergencies. Phase II will be coming to a close in August, 2013, but a third phase of the project is currently in development.

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in International Development or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in international development sector
  • Experience in multi-stakeholder projects
  • Conceptual grasp of learning and knowledge management theories and models
  • Knowledge and experience in facilitating learning and trainings
  • Experience developing briefing and training guides
  • Overseas experience
  • Demonstrative teamwork skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to operationalize strategies
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Exceptional planning, organizing, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a virtual team
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite
