The Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist is a major contributor to the Mobile Solutions team, leading the communications and knowledge management efforts across the USAID’s work in mobile solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the integration of CNI Core Competencies into daily functions, including: commitment to integrity, knowledge/quality of work, supporting financial goals of the company, initiative/motivation, cooperation/relationships, problem analysis/discretion, accomplishing goals through organization, positive oral/written communication skills, leadership abilities, commitment to Affirmative Action, reliability/dependability, flexibility and ownership/accountability of actions taken.
Manages the knowledge management web platform for the Office of Innovation and Development Alliances, Mobile Solutions Division (IDEA/MS).
Facilitates knowledge management activities to support USAID’s work in mobile solutions (e.g. webinars, virtual peer assists, and online discussions) and develops a community of practice amongst country staff working on mobile solutions programming.
Manages and builds web-presence of mobile solutions site and develops communication materials and analytical tools that support USAID’s work in mobile solutions and share learnings with country staff.
Keeps abreast of best practices in knowledge management and mobile solutions, prepares reports, correspondents and other written materials on knowledge management or mobile solutions issues.
Assists in the development and implementation of an internal and external communications strategy for effectively sharing progress, new learnings, and building the thought leadership of IDEA/MS. Writes original content detailing critical subtopics of mobile access, mobile money and mobile data solutions.
Manages external media relationships, an active blog, newsletter and other communication materials for internal and external audiences.
Assembles facts, evidence, and expert opinions on mobile solutions experiences and trends. Organizes such data for access by missions, embassies, interagency partners, host country partners and other relevant stakeholders. Analyzes and communicates such data for easy interpretation amongst internal and external partners.
Initiates contacts with USAID employees to develop news and learnings from the agencies work in mobile solutions. Identifies common trends across the Agency’s work.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
Candidates must have a degree in International Affairs, Communications, Economics, Public Policy, Technology, Business or related field. A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in international development, non-governmental (NGO) or the private sector required. Must have exceptional writing skills. Must have the ability to work well in teams. Must have the ability to obtain a USAID secret clearance (current USAID secret clearance preferred)
