The Defense and Maritime Solutions Group currently has an opening for a Knowledge Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs a variety of assignments primarily associated with capturing, organizing, and filling gaps in the existing knowledge about a transportable command and control system under development. Candidate will be responsible for the development of the program’s knowledge base which support’s sponsor requirements including engineering development, accreditation, logistics, operations, and maintenance. Candidate must directly interface with the Subject Matter Experts in all these areas; will make independent decisions based on his/her own analysis on what level-of-detail for each type of data is to be included. The candidate will also be responsible for the testing and configuration management of the data base to insure all user and sponsor expectations are satisfied. The data base will unitize MS Access, SharePoint, optical media, paper, and electronic documentation. Candidate will independently organize and manage this knowledge base and will be responsible for determining when new support documentation as required. Candidate will be required to deploy for short periods of two to four weeks aboard U.S. Navy ships approximately twice per year in support of the system.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS: 8 years general military program support experience of which two years were spent specifically creating and managing documentation. A Bachelors degree in a related field or 4 additional years of documentation experience.
DESIRED SKILLS: Should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the operational application, management and troubleshooting of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint and Access. Must be familiar with unique aspects of IT systems utilized for processing DoD classified data. Must be able to demonstrate good customer service and communications skills, and demonstrate an ability to function well in a team environment under very high op-tempo conditions. Networking knowledge/experience would be beneficial.
