Make critical contributions as part of a multi-disciplinary team working on novel advanced analytic methods for solving critical homeland security problems using knowledge management and semantic technologies.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent
at each task):
Design, lead the development of, test and deploy software applications and knowledge bases (60%)
Participate in design reviews to gather critical feedback on system design, integration and testing (15%)
Develop documentation and present to sponsor on current research and development activities (15%)
Interact with users and gather requirements (10%)

B.S. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering. At least 5 years of software development experience using Java, .NET, C++ or similar environments. Must have experience with multiple software development environments, web services, service-oriented architectures, software architecture design and development, and software test and deployment. Experience with web technologies and building applications using standards and technologies falling within the semantic web stack (e.g., Triple/Quad Stores). Proficiency with Resource description Framework (RDF) and Web Ontology Language (OWL). Knowledge of SPARQL Graph Query Language. Familiarity with Ontology engineering practices and modeling tradeoffs. Basic understanding of logical inference using RDFS and OWL. Comfortable with continually evolving requirements and ambiguity. Comfortable with loosely defined or high-level requirements. Ability to creatively contribute towards developing new requirements by identifying customer needs and applying expertise and knowledge of available methods, tools, and concepts to those needs. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering. Experience with many web application technologies preferred (including asp, servlets/jsp, ajax libraries, Spring web services, sharepoint, wiki, etc.). Experience with relational and semantic databases and concepts, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Postgres, SQL query optimization and schema design. Experience with build and testing frameworks such as N/ANT, N/JUnit, Maven, GIT etc. Some familiarity with knowledge discovery/analytical techniques such as Natural Language Processing, Information Retrieval, Classification and Statistical Inference.
Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
