This is advanced, professional and technical work for the analysis of plant tissue and similar materials using the inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and CNS-2000 LECO combustion furnace. The person in the position will have the skills, aptitude, and experience to independently handle the plant analysis section of the Soil, Plant, and Water Laboratory. The technician will be involved in various steps of analytical work including specialized sample preparation methods, preparation of reagents and standards, and operation of complex instrumentation with strict adherence to quality assurance and quality control protocols. The technician will be involved in the preparation and analysis of other types of special tests performed on sludges, non-animal wastes, wastewaters, and other samples, and will be responsible in the maintenance and repairs of instrument, and keeping an inventory of spare parts and consumables required for the analysis. The work requires rapid sample turnaround and exacting quality control standards reviewed by the Laboratory Program Coordinator and the Quality Assurance Office of AESL. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree and some related experience or equivalent combination required
