The Northeast Parent & Child Society’s Child Guidance Clinic, a nationally accredited mental health outpatient treatment program, invites application for a Lead Comprehensive Clinical School Counselor.
The Child Guidance Center offers children and families help in managing their emotional well-being and assistance in resolving issues that may cause impaired emotional/behavioral functioning and psychiatric difficulties.
Responsibilities of the Lead Comprehensive Clinical School Counselor position include, but are not limited to: enhancing positive outcomes for students ages 14-21 to achieve academic and/or career goals, as well as support students whose “at-risk” environment increases the chances of exposure to gangs and violence, drug and alcohol abuse, teen pregnancy, and low academic achievement. Supervise four Clinical Comprehensive School Counselors and will serve as the primary point of contact for the Northeast Parent and Child Society contract. The Lead Clinical School Counselor will also maintain a caseload of 10 at-risk students and their parents/guardians as part of the Guidance Team utilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration, and school counselors to promote student success through a comprehensive student support plan for students in grades 9 th through 12 th .
Skills/Qualifications: Master’s degree in School Counseling with NYS certification and a minimum of two years’ experience in clinical work targeted to adolescents. Minimum of one year supervisory experience in a counseling setting. Must have experience working in an urban, culturally diverse setting.
Work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm. Early evening hours, summer, 24/7 and on-call student crisis intervention.
