The Lead Intake Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of Central Florida Behavioral Hospital’s intake and admission process, including efficient and effective handling of inquiry calls, knowledge of and communication with referral sources; providing hospital and program information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professionals; making outside referrals, when appropriate; assessing and triaging an individual’s mental health status; making patient safety and level of care recommendations to the CFBH physician; identifying insurance benefits, pre-certification of patient care; completing all admission requirements; communicating patient safety concerns and pertinent patient information to unit nursing staff and documenting all necessary information in Med Series 4. The Lead Intake Specialist is also responsible for the training of all new and existing Intake staff on the Intake department processes and procedures.


Masters Degree in from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling or other related fields or Nursing Degree required. LMHC, LCSW, LMFT preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years experience in the mental health field required, perferrably in an Acute Inpatient setting.

Excellent communication skillsare required. Must have the a bility to relate to those emotionally disturbed and in crisis.

Medium demand, mentally. Requires extensive time sitting, writing, and talking on telephone. Ability to assist in crisis intervention, physical intervention with out of control patients.
