Job Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITION ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES : Using the Aleph system this employee has responsibility for the receipt, verification of correct title entry and check-in by volume, number and/or date all material at the Lawton Chiles Legal Information Center. These materials include a variety of formats. Also enters invoices for payment processing

40% I. Bibliographic Responsibility: Check-in all new and reoccurring library material in the automated library database, ALEPH . Update library holdings for accurate display in the catalog when necessary. Resolve discrepancies or problems as they arise with supervisor or cataloging staff.

25% II. Invoice Payment: Create invoice records in ALEPH to remit payment to vendors.

10% III . Mail: Sort and route all incoming LIC mail. Open and sort mail addressed to Acquisitions/Technical Services Department.

15% IV. Rare Book Room: Responsible for the organization and stack maintenance of the collection to ensure materials are protected and able to be located. Reports problems with the environmental controls. Retrieves materials when requested.

5% IV. Micro-formats: File micro-formats and re-arrange as necessary.

5% V. Other Duties: (1.) Statistics kept daily and reported monthly according to format of material. (2.) Package and return library materials to vendors due to cancellation, duplication, or damage. (3) Stay informed regarding enhancements and developments of locally used systems ( ALEPH , OCLC , PC’s). (4.) Know current Technical Services Department procedures. (5.) Participate in meetings, training and staff development when offered. (6.) Participate in special projects when they arise.

Details instructions are provided in writing and orally along with guides.

Daily from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Total of 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible within the 40 hours work week based on schedule negotiated with supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and two years of library or related clerical/customer service experience; or Bachelors degree.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Ability to work with details.

Facility with computers.

Facility with library databases, including Aleph, OCLC , PeopleSoft, and general database search skills.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to learn and apply new technologies.

Ability to exercise judgment regarding problems encountered in the work process
