Stonington Institute began serving recovering alcoholics in 1957 as Starlight Farms, a working farm where adults in recovery were introduced to the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. Today, we are the longest continually operating, free-standing, voluntary treatment facility in New England. Our main campus is located in North Stonington, CT, in its original private and peaceful rural setting. We have additional clinical sites in Groton, CT. Transportation and off-campus housing assistance make our programs and services accessible to a statewide clientele. Those programs include: medical detoxification, rehabilitation/residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient treatment (both day and evening), ambulatory detoxification and residential substance abuse treatment for military servicemembers and their dependents. The Institute accepts private insurance, state-funded plans and self pay arrangements.

The Licensed Mental Health Clinician is a licensed therapist who specializes in the treatment of PTSD and co-occurring substance abuse. The Clinician will provide therapy and education group services to active duty military, veterans and returning soldiers in a residential and partial hospital format. The Clinician will be responsible for all clinical aspects of care, including risk assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, as well as psycho-educational and family services. This Clinician will provide services in conjunction with other members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.

Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work or in related field (i.e., agency counseling, mental health counseling, etc.) Training/Certification in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure therapy or other trauma-related models strongly preferred. Training and experience in mindfulness and acceptance-based treatment models including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention, or Mindful Yoga Therapy also strongly preferred.
