THE PERSON(S) WORKING IN THIS POSITION WORKS EVENING SHIFTS AND OCCASIONAL WEEKENDS. RELEASE OF ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION INFORMATION: La. R.S. 17:3884(D) requires that any school board wishing to hire a person who has been assessed or evaluated pursuant to the Children First Act, La. R.S. 17:3871, et seq., whether that person is already employed by that school system or not, shall request such person’s assessment and evaluation results as part of the application process. Please be advised that, as part of the mandated process, your previous assessment and evaluation results will be requested. I. On Stand Duties A. Remains alert and attentive while on the lifeguard stand. B. Consistently scans the pool for distressed swimmers. C. Enforces all pool rules fairly and consistently. D. Refrains from chatting with friends or co-workers, texting or talking on the phone, eating while on duty. E. Responds to emergencies in an appropriate manner according to guidelines taught in Lifeguard, First Aid and CPR Training. II. Off Stand Duties A. Greets and checks in students and staff in a friendly manor. B. Remains attentive to signals made by other lifeguards who are on the stand. C. Develops and maintains a professional, friendly relationship with students and staff. D. Answers all questions politely. E. Enforces all pool rules fairly and consistently. F. Promptly refers all problems or complaints to the Activities Director. G. Picks up debris and trash on the pool deck and grounds. H. Empties trash cans. III. Additional Duties As Assigned A. Vacuums the pool. B. Cleans pool tiles and/or skimmers. C. Checks the pool chemistry as required by parish and state laws and adjusts the chemical balance as necessary. D. Promptly refers pool chemistry problems to the Activities Director. E. Refrains from allowing unauthorized employees of LSDVI, friends and/or relatives to use the facility. F. Reports to duty on time. G. Follow call in procedures.
