Administer Linux server environments, including installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, system performance tuning, file system tuning, user administration, system security, process control, hardware configuration, disk management, group policy creation, access control, and general systems administration; concepts, client/server environment, Microsoft networking environment, and remote connectivity.
Support of systems attached to various storage devices such as SAN, NAS, and DAS.
Ability to work in a "hands-on" administration capacity, including designing, building, executing, testing and deploying Linux server systems, including hardware, operating systems enhancements and upgrades.
Work with other IT groups to streamline and consolidate system processes, create and own system documentation, and follow change control processes.
Perform system patching and hardware maintenance including application, security, and operating system patches and upgrades on Linux systems.
Assist with application installation, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
Able to balance conflicting priorities and manage time to ensure success of simultaneous efforts.
Must demonstrate: technical aptitude, positive interpersonal skills, flexibility to share on-call responsibilities and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation schedule, eagerness to learn, discipline to follow internal processes, and ability to work in team environment.
Work Experience / Skills Required
Knowledge of the Linux operating system - Red Hat Preferred
1 year minimum experience working with Linux in some capacity.
Good Customer Service and team skills.
Work Experience / Skills Preferred
Experience working in an IT capacity with exposure to Linux based server systems.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent
Bachelor's Degree or above preferred OR equivalent training/work experience.
Red Hat Linux (RHCE or RHCT (RHCSA)) certifications desired.
