Average Weekly Hours:
variable hours/week, as needed

Provides safe, basic nursing care to patients on the Medical Surgical unit, within the scope of LNA practice, under direct supervision of an LPN or RN. This includes personal hygiene care, assists with feeding patients when necessary to meet the patient’s dietary needs, monitoring patients medical status and assisting with bed mobility and transfers as indicated. Performs reception and clerical functions on the Medical Surgical Unit. The technician role has elements of an expanded LNA role, as well as a secretary role, and offers an opportunity for cross training. Therefore, the major duties and responsibilities shift depending on the amount of time spent on each role.

Hiring Range Description:
Grade: 16

Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Current licensure as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in the State of Vermont. Knowledge of basic medical terminology required.

Experience:
18 months experience as an LNA in a hospital setting. Previous clinical experience in Medical Surgical Unit preferred. Computer experience preferred.

Special Skills / Other:
Communicates clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing. Has the ability to organize and prioritize multiple competing demands. Has an approachable, friendly demeanor.
