Position Overview:
Have a good understanding of the global animal nutrition business to combine with role in developing and communicating technologies that can be applied to that business.

Team Effort:
Must be able to work independently, as well as a key member of teams that include Brand Managers, Technology Deployment Managers, district personnel and Elk River Innovation Team to effectively understand, create and communicate nutrition technology value for customers.

Principal Accountabilities:
40% - Analytical Chemistry:
  • Perform/manage a variety of wet chemistry assays in support of the business and NIR calibration maintenance
  • Prioritize time to meet expected test TAT
  • Maintain instruments and chemicals/supplies inventory
  • Maintain sample retention system
30% - Processing/NIR:
  • Responsible for correct sample processing for NIR and wet chemistry analysis
  • Responsible for sample scanning and data collection/retention
20% - Enhance lab communications, quality and processes:
  • Manage data accuracy for tests performed
  • Effectively use control charts and standards for data quality assurance
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve analytic variances
  • Review/update lab BMPs and SOPs in accordance with Global Lab processes
10% - Career Development (Engagement/Safety):
  • Become proficient in multiple wet chemistry assays
  • Train others on wet chemistry assays
  • Complete career development and KRA opportunities
  • Complete safety and engagement objectives

Bachelor’s Degree in a Science discipline

Ability to perform repetitive tasks efficiently over “long” periods of time

Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel)

Proficient with performing math functions

Ability to maintain a safe, clean working environment

Ability to manage multiple projects/tests and achieve desired TAT

Demonstrated knowledge of general chemistry and biology principles

Demonstrated knowledge in wet chemistry analysis

Ability to work 5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. M-F, extended hours as needed, and weekends on occasion


2 years of work experience in nutrient analysis
