Job Description

SUMMARY
Under general supervision, leads the press crew in the operation of the presses for their respective shift. Provides direction to the second press operator and press assistants working on shift and ensures press crew follows company policies including standard operating procedures as well as all safe work practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Operates the press in a safe manner using all prescribed operation procedures,
consistently meeting or exceeding quality requirements with the minimum amount of
waste.
• Inspects the job docket to ensure that each job is set up and run correctly, using the
specified paper and inks. Uses color standards to ensure the job is the correct color.
• Ensures the second press operators and press assistants are performing job responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ensures all jobs assigned to press shift are completed on time as scheduled by the Radius scheduling system.
• Inputs all data required by the shift including Radius shift punch in times as well as
job start times and completion times. Responsible to ensure Radius and waste
database has all the correct data from shift.
• Performs preventative maintenance on the press as assigned enlisting the help of the
second press operator and maintenance as required.
• Follows standard operating procedures as established by the company, performing all
job responsibilities in a safe and professional manner so to ensure the best quality
production on shift.
• Ensures the second press operator assists in whatever operations are necessary to
ensure a successful shift.
• Performs training required to prepare the second press operator to become a first
press operator.
• Participates in trouble shooting problems on press.
• Continuously improves all operating practices, using data to drive decisions.
• Informs the Press/Finishing Team Leader of shift irregularities especially those
involving down time, quality and press problems.
• Communicates the ending job and shift status to the lead press operator coming on
duty.
• Follows Company Safety standards and procedures.
• Observes recycling guidelines and limits waste of materials and supplies.
• Performs other tasks as appropriate to support fellow employees in a team environment.
• Must maintain satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
• Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED.
• Required to pass the Farnsworth-Munsell 100-Hue Color Vision Test with a Superior score .
• Minimum 2 years experience in the print manufacturing industry.
• Basic computer skills.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently lift and move up to 48 pounds.
• Required to work rotating shifts and overtime as necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• College business or printing coursework.
• Prior experience through technical training or technical school.
• Experience running press independently.
• Basic understanding of UV and water base inks, rotary foil, and embossing.
• Basic understanding of in-fed and out-fed web tensions.
• Experience with Production Management System (Radius), Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
