Kelly Scientific is currenlty seeking a Laboratory Assistant for one of our top notch clients.
Summary: The incumbent is responsible for the preparation of clean glassware as per directions outlined in the department s standard operating procedures. Additionally, the aide assists in laboratory maintenance and cleanliness. Occasional assistance with routine sample testing may also be required based upon the analytical abilities of the incumbent.
Essential Job Functions: This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is the intent to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent s may not be required to perform all duties listed, and, may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
Washes and re-shelves laboratory glassware Maintains cleanliness of laboratory equipment such as sonicators, refrigerators, freezers, dissolution baths, etc. Monitors and empties laboratory solvent waste. Stocks solvents in the warehouse and laboratory as needed. Prepares samples for stability testing or other analytical testing. Shreds obsolete laboratory documents. Responsible for laboratory housekeeping and chemical inventory. Receives and stores laboratory supplies. Clerical responsibilities such as but not limited to preparing and filing sample folders. Occasional directed testing of routine samples. Occasional assistance with laboratory calibrations or systems verification checks. Other responsibilities as assigned by their immediate Supervisor.
Required Knowledge and Skills: To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. Some knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and/or database packages. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to learn and understand simple spreadsheet applications. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving well-defined variables in recurring situations. Should possess the ability to understand and apply simple logical steps towards problem solving.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, standard test procedures and material safety data sheets. Ability to read and write in English as well as to orally communicate in English.
Knowledge of: FDA, cGMPs, and SOPs related to job description.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Laboratory Aide works under close supervision of the immediate Supervisor.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is frequently required to walk and sit. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust and focus.
Able to pass a respiratory test or a respirator fitting test.
