The University of California, Merced is the newest and tenth campus of the University of California system and the first American research university built in the 21st century. Under the general supervision of the Chemistry Instructional Lab Coordinator, the Lab Assistant's primary responsibility will be assisting in the setup and maintenance of the chemistry instructional labs. This will include preparation of chemical solutions for laboratory experiments. The incumbent will also be responsible for operational support for the chemistry instructional labs, including organizing and monitoring supplies, requesting orders, maintaining lab room equipment inventories and maintenance/repair of lab room equipment.

Hours of work will vary each semester depending on lab course schedules (work hours fall between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM). Saturday hours will be required according to the demands of the labs
Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or other physical science.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse range of chemicals, ranging from organic to inorganic.
