Department of Biology and Molecular Biology combined with technical advances and the need to teach these advanced techniques to our students has led to a corresponding increase in the need for complex equipment and a need for technical assistance to maintain this equipment. These items include a DNA sequencer, QPCR and PCR machines, centrifuges, ultracentrifuges, autoclaves and various smaller equipment items.
The Laboratory Equipment Technician will be responsible for preparation, maintenance, and monitoring of the above equipment to ensure that it is fully functional for research and teaching use, and will conduct sample analyses for department faculty. The technician may also support per fee services for sample analysis for local universities and companies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience with use and maintenance of standard biological equipment including DNA sequencer, QPCR and PCR machines, centrifuges, ultracentrifuges, autoclaves, and various smaller equipment. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate and work well with other technical staff, faculty, and outside service contractors. Master’s degree in a life science preferred.
$45,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience
