Duties:
The selected candidate will be responsible for the electrical/electronic hardware engineering design and development and overall electrical/electronic requirements in the Battery Evaluation Section (BES) and the Energy Technology Department (ETD). The candidate will assist senior scientists and engineers in the research, testing and evaluation of spacecraft batteries, solar cells and power systems. Duties will include Design and analysis of battery charge management electronics with special interest in Li-Ion technology. Software-hardware design and integration for cell and battery test systems. Set-up and integration of automated test stations (ATS) including hardware layout and electrical/electronic interface design, construction, system verification, and trouble-shooting. Candidate should possess skill in the design and layout of circuits for hardware components and test system applications and capability in the use of schematic capture and PCB layout software programs for custom circuit board designs. Support senior staff in project design, research, analytical testing and evaluation, for spacecraft batteries and solar cells. The candidate is expected to maintain test data and perform general laboratory cleaning and safety duty.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in science or engineering and two years related experience required. A strong knowledge of analog and digital circuits is required for this position. Candidate must be able to perform DC circuit designs and troubleshoot with their applications. Knowledge and use of schematic capture and PCB layout software programs for circuit design is required. Experience with energy storage device testing and evaluation is strongly desired. Experience with using laboratory instruments, power supplies, data acquisition systems and software programs for test equipment control is desired for this position. Knowledge of programming languages (VB, C, C++, Labview, Java) is a plus. The candidate should be highly motivated, a good listener, willing to take direction from senior scientists and engineers, eager to learn and perform “hands-on” technical support for experiments and projects. They must be willing to work as part of a team and be safety-conscious and knowledgeable of safeguards for working with electrical test equipment and batteries. Candidate must be able to maintain accurate test data and perform general laboratory upkeep duty. Candidate must have good written and oral communication skills and a functional knowledge of MS Office suite. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance.
