Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science or related field and five years of experience in a certified drinking water laboratory performing chemical and bacteriological testing including two years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An advanced degree is preferred and computer literacy is necessary. Comprehensive knowledge of State and Federal regulations applicable to drinking water standards; ability to supervise multiple projects; good oral/written communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills required. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Must not reflect a total accumulation of six or more negative points within the past three years or a major violation within the past four years. Pre-employment drug testing and FBI criminal background check required.


Maintains a certified laboratory to perform monitoring required under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Analyzes bacteriological testing methods for potable water, Flame and Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, Total Organic Carbon analysis, Ion Chromatography, Nutrient Analysis, and Surface Water Quality monitoring. Supervises staff of nine; responds to customer inquiries concerning potable water quality; monitors water quality in the public water supply distribution system as well as the Swift Creek Reservoir; submits reports to State and local agencies. Performs other work as required.
