EnerSys , the worldwide leader in the manufacturing of industrial batteries, has an exciting opportunity available for a Laboratory Technician Intern at its Corporate Laboratory in Reading, PA. This individual will assist the laboratory with battery performance testing, internal inspection of batteries, and maintaining lab records. Candidates in a science or engineering related curriculum are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a knowledge of basic electrical concepts, excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
A competitive salary and a flexible work schedule are available for this position. Candidates must be willing to work 40 hours per week Monday through Friday for a duration of 3-4 months.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist in the analysis of batteries using EnerSys Laboratory Standard Procedures and/or Material Test Methods.
Operate electrical instrumentation such as multimeters, impedance meters, and dataloggers for the measurement of the performance of batteries.
Assist in the designing and construction of testing equipment using devices such as PLC’s and industrial temperature controllers.
Assist in the teardown evaluations of batteries.
Insure that the assigned Laboratory equipment and instrumentation is properly maintained and ready at all times.
Perform work and record keeping activities according the directions of the EnerSys Engineering Manual and the guidelines of ISO9001.
Technical knowledge of Electronics and/or Electrical, Mechanical and/or Chemical principles.
Some basic Programming Skills including Microsoft VisualBasic.
Skilled in the use of computers; Ability to navigate on a computer network; Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access.
Ability to clearly communicate both written and orally when dealing with employees and supervisors.
