This position has the primary responsibility of carrying out research activities related to high temperature polymerization for a global polymer research group. The position involves independently operating and maintaining laboratory scale polymerization equipment and conducting standard characterization techniques such as chromatography and wet chemistry methods. The Research Technician is expected to keep an accurate laboratory notebook, compute basic formulations and write laboratory reports under the supervision of a Scientist. Frequent interaction with internal customers and teams is expected with the research technicians contributing new ideas and solutions to problems. Furthermore, the research technician is expected to maintain a high level of safety and housekeeping standards by participating in company and department EHS programs.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Associates degree in a technical field required. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or material science is a plus. Candidates without an Associates or Bachelor's degree but with relevant experience in laboratory, pilot operations or manufacturing will also be considered.

Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

Previous working experience with laboratory and pilot scale polymerization or chemical reactors is preferred.

PLC type equipment/computer interface is desirable but not required.

This position is part of a job family with multiple levels and will be filled at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
