GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for the operation of the clinic laboratory. Provide quality service to medical providers in a customer-service oriented environment. Performing various technical duties for routine patient visits. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Clinic Supervisor SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Receive lab orders from physicians preparing necessary documentation and performing various routine tests (chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, immunology, allergy testing). 2. Maintain accurate laboratory testing log and necessary documentation for all tests according to clinic standards, ensuring quality control in collections, sampling and records. 3. Reports test results following clinic protocols drawing special alerts to physicians and/or nurses. 4. Maintains equipment and supplies as needed. Records and maintains accurate log of various temperatures daily. 5. Performs venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients. Identifies and labels specimens 6. Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, infection control. 7. Follow clinic and organization protocols for self-protection regarding needle and specimen handling. 8. Maintain proficient knowledge of organizational emergency procedures. 9. Additional duties as assigned. The jobholder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position. KNOWLEDGE: 1. Knowledge of medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, tests. 2. Knowledge of how to use/maintain laboratory equipment appropriately. 3. Knowledge safety, infection control policies and regulations. SKILLS: 4. Skill in following appropriate testing procedures. 5. Skill in proper use, preventive maintenance and repair. 6. Skill in appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures. ABILITIES: 1. Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision-making and discretion in reporting/distributing results. 2. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff. 3. Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy. ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily laboratory setting. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, noises. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping. Must be able to lift, carry or push 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination. Requirements:

EDUCATION: High school diploma (or equivalent). Successful completion of MT, MLT or CLA course of study. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years laboratory experience. REQUIREMENTS: ASCP or AMT certification. MA preferred but not required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and stooping. Must be able to lift, carry or push 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination. Occasional stress from workload.
