At Flint Hills Resources, the Lab Technician is vital to the successful operation of our asphalt terminals. They determine whether our products meet industry and company set standards. This involves performing lab tests, verifying sample properties, and taking necessary corrective action whenever a product is out of spec. The Lab Technician also ensures that safety precautions are followed in the lab, with appropriate personal protective equipment utilized at all times. New lab staff will be trained in proper techniques and procedures, ensuring the highest of standards are met as they perform the sample analyses. The Lab Technician will also perform general administrative support work for the Terminal as needed.

Are able to perform laboratory testing in an efficient, accurate, and precise manner
Are able to assist with maintenance and calibration of the laboratory equipment
Will ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in industry specific software
Work Experience & Skills Required
Are able to stand 75-100% of the time
Are able to safely lift up to 50 pounds
Able to visually observe lab tests
Willing to utilize Personal Protective Equipment
Willing to serve on-call for after hours support
In possession of a valid driver's license
Focused on environmental, health, and safety consciousness
Committed to accurate record keeping
Able to handle multiple tasks
A team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Work Experience & Skills Preferred
3-5 years experience working in a laboratory setting
Proficient computer skills (familiar with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel)
Bachelor's of Science degree
Undergraduate coursework in chemistry, biology, engineering, or medical lab training
Occasional travel (with overnight stays) is required in order to attend trainings, meetings, or assist at other locations
