School/Unit Harvard School of Public Health Sub-Unit ------------ Location USA - MA - Boston Job Function Research Time Status Full-time Schedule Department Environmental Health - EER Program Salary Grade 049 Union 55 - Hvd Union Cler & Tech Workers Duties & Responsibilities The Exposure, Epidemiology and Risk Program within the Department of Environmental Health at Harvard School of Public Health seeks a Lab Technician to evaluates the efficacy of air-cleaning systems that inactivate or remove airborne bacteria in a bench-top or room-sized chamber according to established technical procedures. The Lab Tech will prepare bacterial cultures needed for testing of air-cleaning systems, collect and culture airborne bacterial samples, perform established experimental tests and procedures in order to evaluate air-cleaning systems designed to inactivate airborne bacteria and record results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques. The Lab Tech may also operate scientific equipment.
Please note: This is a grant-funded term appointment for one year from the date of hire. Basic Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Additional Qualifications The preferred candidate will have some college level biology courses and at least one year of experience in a laboratory. Proficiency with Excel and word processing software such as MS Word is also required. Candidate should also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and should be able to demonstrate initiative and attention to detail.
