The Land Administration Supervisor is responsible for supervising Teams of Lease Analysts, Division Order Analysts, Title Analysts, and Land Techs. The Supervisor reports directly to the Land Administration Manager. This individual must have advanced knowledge of land operations as well as administrative processes.
Oversee the Land Administration processes and consistently seek to improve the processes and business efficiencies.
Motivate employees by providing positive and constructive feedback without intimidation.
Work with Land Administration Manager to evaluate the performance of Land Administration personnel.
Identify performance and behavioral issues and address them in a timely fashion through training and/or disciplinary action.
Initiate the hiring and training of Land Administration personnel, as needed.
Work with Land Administration Manager and/or Team Leads to evaluate and determine escalation of Land Admin issues to the appropriate level (i.e. Land Admin Manager, VP Land, Legal, etc.) as needed
Assist Team Leads in monitoring workloads and insure Team Leads have adequate support for their Team’s needs.
Assist Team Leads in the annual performance review and compensation process.
Responsible for performing annual performance reviews and for completing the compensation process.
Responsible for creating and maintaining department annual budget.
Work with Land Administration trainers to ensure Land Administration personnel are getting appropriate training. This includes working with the Trainers to create a high level cross training program between Lease Records and Division Order Analysts.
Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Work with regional offices, other departments, and management within the Company to ensure Company and departmental goals are met.
Coordinate rental payment, mortgage, escheat, and other efforts with the Special Project Teams and other Department Supervisor.
Provide reports as needed by the Company.
Provide support to the Legal department.
Assist Special Project A&D Team, as needed.
Conduct business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Energy Management, Finance, Accounting or Business preferred.
8 years of experience in Land, Division Orders and/or Lease Records preferred; comparable experience will be considered. Additionally, a minimum of two years in a leadership position is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficient level of skill in Microsoft Office
Strong knowledge of oil & gas software and Land systems a plus
Significant experience with analysis of record title ownership of producing and non-producing properties
Strong analytical skills, using logic and investigative methods. Interpret and synthesize complex and diverse information
Comprehensive knowledge of monthly lease and contract obligations, Land and mineral titles, and the ability to cure common title defects.
Remain abreast and possesses in-depth knowledge on applicable state laws, regulations, and statutes
Ability to work independently to resolve, comprehend and communicate complex title issues to Management and team
Demonstrates strong project/team leadership skills
Ability to interface with multi-disciplinary teams on land related topics
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to identify problems and generate alternative solutions
Ability to perform basic math functions
Ability to review and adapt process to create efficiencies.
Strong, clear, and concise written and verbal communication skills
Some travel to regional offices may be required.
