The Land Technician maintains files relating to land department functions; prepares general routine correspondence, data entry and carries out other general administrative functions.
New owner set-up and changes to existing owners in the Owner Master.
Sort incoming mail for the Region, print reports, and distribute.
Provide assistance on special projects as assigned by Team Lead and/or Supervisor to support Company goals.
Preparation of Division Orders and transmittal letters for new wells and transfer of interests requiring mass mailings
Utilize internet tools to locate missing owners and/or social security numbers for owners
Assist in set up of Lease Records files for acquisitions.
Assist in pulling files, creating a log, and shipping files for divestitures.
Setup Excel spreadsheets with Team Lead/Analyst assistance.
Run and distribute various monthly reports for the Land Administration Department
Review the Monthly LDO Changes report for distribution of estates to make sure that the Owner Master has been updated
Set up Division Order and Lease Records files for new wells and new leases
Verify information on executed Division Orders against the Owner Master and update Owner Master with any changes; verify in system that owner is in correct pay status; send information to Division Order Analyst when owner is placed in suspense
Set up new leases and contract in the system under direction of the Lease Records Analysts and/or Team Lead.
Generate mass changes in Edge affecting ownership, pay codes and pay status codes under the direction of the DO Analysts and/or Team Lead.
File all Division Order documents in the appropriate DO files
Provide back-up support for the receptionist and mail clerk when necessary
Conducts business with the highest ethical standards; demonstrate decision-making skills that ensure the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma required; B.S. or Associates degree preferred
Minimum 1-2 years with Degree; or 3-4 years with applicable work experience without a degree
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Basic skills and effective use of Microsoft Office applications
Technical skills that allow easy adaptation to company & industry specific software and other necessary related applications.
Knowledge of oil and gas industry is a plus
Strong interpersonal / communication skills and capabilities to build relationships and interact with land, drilling and production operation staff, State and Federal agencies, mineral and land owners; and interoffice communications
Ability to interface with Land Administration personnel
Strong organization and time management skills
Strong attention to detail, including proofing, editing and correspondence skills
Effective team player in a multi-disciplined team environment
Ability to thrive in both an independent and collaborative work environment
