First-line manager responsible for an accounting group that is responsible for organizing, performing and directing accounting activities and functions for the USGAAP adjustment and consolidation of Latin America locations. These duties include supervision of the recording and maintenance of the company’s financial records, internal management reporting and supervision of six accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities and Skills:
Directs the daily activities of the Houston based accounting staff
Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation, consolidation and distribution of the monthly internal financial statements to management including oversight of the all monthly, quarterly and year end closings
Through the use of review of general ledger account analysis and other analytical reviews and substantive support, ensures that the Company’s USGAAP financial records are accurate
Reviews contracts for proper USGAAP accounting treatment
Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies, determining appropriate corrective procedures that often requires cross-functional solutions and communications with various departments and locations
Communicates, coaches, trains and coordinates accounting policies and procedures to both Houston accountants as well as in-country accounting
Coordinates year end audit schedule preparation with the external auditors and ensures that the year-end audit data is accurate and complete, including coordinating with any in-region and country personnel
Performs monthly variance analysis of the financial statements and responds to management inquiries
Responsible for data integrity between in country accounting systems and Oracle, ensuring accurate mapping and roll up of the financial statements
Responsible for review and preparation of US GAAP account reconciliations
Hands on knowledge of USGAAP including application of revenue recognition requirements and foreign currency translation
Experience in adjusting international locations financial statements to USGAAP
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
Certified Public Accountant.
Eight years accounting experience
Must be able to travel outside of the US to assist with training, process improvements and issue resolution. Not expected to be more than 10%
Must be available to work early morning/late night hours to accommodate meetings with internal customers in various time zones when needed
Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and PC skills
Proficient with email system; Microsoft Outlook preferred
Oracle and AccPac preferred, along with Essbase reporting tool
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
MBA or other designation a plus
Public accounting experience a plus
Experience international or having worked directly with multiple foreign locations closing and reporting a plus
