Patrols assigned area to prevent crime and detect violations of law. Responds to complaints, reports of violations and requests for assistance. Issues warnings and citations to violators. Apprehends and arrests violators. Investigates hunting, boating and/or traffic accidents. Directs traffic and controls crowds. Performs general police work such as maintaining order during emergencies, participating in manhunts and providing executive protection. Testifies in court and other legal proceedings. Keeps records and makes reports regarding activities. Provides guidance and on-the-job training to other law enforcement personnel.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A high school diploma and minimum of 12 months direct work experience as a corrections, security, military police, or certified officer. A degree may be substituted for the work experience.
Must be able to meet the required Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer (graduated 12 weeks Criminal Justice Academy in South Carolina, mandated by 23-23-40) within first six months or have at least one (1) year as a Certified Law Enforcement Officer.
You must pass premployment drug test, a psychological assessment and a physical prior to employment.

A degree may be sustituted for the work experience.
Must have at least one (1) year as a Certified Law Enforcement Officer with knowledge of SC Laws.
You must pass premployment drug test, a psychological assessment and a physical prior to employment. Prefer at least 2 years of experience in Law Enforcement. Have considerable knowledge of State Laws, rules, and regulations of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.
