The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond has immediate openings for Law Enforcement Officers in our Charlotte, North Carolina branch. In these highly visible roles, your availability must be flexible to accommodate any shift over a 24 hour period (Day, Evenings, or Overnight) . You will protect and safeguard Bank operations, property and employees and perform various duties of a Law Enforcement Officer to provide protection to the organization's employees, visitors, properties, and all items of value on Bank premises while under direct supervision. You will operate various technologies, including, but not limited to X-ray and magnetometer screening equipment, access control systems and other specialized areas of security related equipment. This position also responds to Bank emergencies, drills, alarms, potentially dangerous situations, including providing aid to individuals in distressed situations.

***Hiring range is $36,099-$42,000 annually--plus a shift differential, where applicable

Additional Responsibilities
  • Remains alert and vigilant while performing repetitive duties such as walking, screening, standing and sitting, all while assigned to a FRLEO post
  • Responds to Bank emergencies, drills, alarms, potentially dangerous situations and other circumstances
  • Controls vehicle and pedestrian access to building; receives the public, determines nature of business, and directs persons to appropriate destination
  • Escorts individuals throughout the building when needed; examines packages coming into building; ensures all persons in Bank are properly displaying appropriate access badges
  • Responds to emergency calls and routine complaints and disturbances and takes action as necessary
  • Performs both vehicle and walking patrols to prevent crimes and enforce laws and ordinances
  • Operates various technologies such as, but not limited to, x-ray and magnetometer screening equipment
  • Operates as a law enforcement officer pursuant to the delegated authority granted by the Board of Governors in Section 11(q) of the Federal Reserve Act
  • Enforces federal laws and Federal Reserve System policies and regulations, to protect life, property, and assets
  • Responds to incidents and provides emergency assistance. Is a sworn Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officer, pursuant to the authority granted by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, and approved by the U.S. Attorney General, Section (q) of the Federal Reserve Act. Section 364 of the USA Patriot Act of 2001 amended section 11 of the Federal Reserve Act, to provide federal law enforcement authority for protection personnel at Reserve Banks. )
  • Completes requisite & Basic In-Service Training
  • Participates in recertification programs including firearms, policies, legal, etc. to receive updated information and maintain skill proficiency
  • Stays current on all Department policies and procedures, such as Officer Liability, report writing, emergency procedures, methods of identification, and other specialized procedures
  • Demonstrates proficient and safe use of various firearms
  • Provides basic first aid in emergency situations, including CPR with Automatic External Defibrillator. Attends annual first aid and CPR training to maintain current certifications
  • Communicates effectively within the team and to customers, stakeholders and constituents
  • Keeps Bank records of activities and makes reports concerning crimes, complaints, accidents, investigations and submits follow-up-reports
  • Promotes good law enforcement relations among employees in the Bank, visitors, and contractors
  • Is knowledgeable of Bank's organizational structure and building layout in order to direct inquiries to the proper resources
  • Works effectively as an individual, in a collaborative environment
  • Helps support team members in their effort to achieve organizational goals
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to:
  • Special Response Team (SRT)
  • Executive Protection Unit (EPU)
  • Training Coordination
  • Field Training Officers (FTO)
Requirements/Education/Technical Competencies
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED. Prefer some college courses or graduation from an accredited college or university
  • Prior law enforcement experience preferred
  • Requires working knowledge of Law Enforcement procedures and operations
  • Knowledge of various automated physical security controls.
Knowledge of life-saving techniques such as first aid, CPR, AED; certification in standard first aid, CPR, and AED required
  • Familiarity with the use of various firearms; must maintain firearms qualification
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be able to pass physical and psychological examinations by Bank-designated licensed personnel
  • May be confined to one area for extended periods of time, requiring sitting or standing and significant visual concentration. May be required to work in extreme climate conditions
  • In emergency situations, may be required to forcefully restrain/pursue individuals, run fast, climb stairs, etc.
  • Must maintain good physical condition to respond to potentially dangerous situations
  • Must wear appropriate uniform and operate all issued equipment as required by LEU policy
  • Must be proficient in use and maintenance of firearms and approved non-lethal weapons
  • Must be able to respond to life-threatening situations, i.e. investigating for potential explosive devices, responding to workplace violence, and responding to other adverse / dangerous situations
