, WA - Forest Management Office

General Directive:
Participate in the oversight of client property accounting for Hancock Forest Management, Inc.'s (HFM) management operations located in Vancouver, Washington. These tasks are to be performed in a team environment involving the HFM staff, appropriate Boston representatives, and the Hancock Timber Resource Group (HTRG) northwest based staff.

Properties consist of approximately 1,800,000 acres of timberland in the HFM Northwest and HFM North Inland Divisions.

Service the information and accounting needs of field offices.

Proficient with operating budgets, costs, and tracking.

Demonstrate effective communication skills to internal and external customers including Hancock Forest Management division and regional staff.

Proficiency in various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, e-mail, CT3, and Great Plains accounting software

Develop and maintain relationships with HFM staff and HTRG staff

Promote positive office environment

Self motivated, supportive, demonstrates highest integrity, and capable of working independently

Attention to detail and accuracy

Knowledgeable in areas of financial reporting, log accounting, log export programs, budgeting, internal controls, general ledger maintenance, and generally accepted accounting principles

Familiarity with general forestry operations

Reports to Accounting Manager

Specific Duties

Responsible for all Forest Ops and Budget Management System reporting including quarterly forward and backward looks and annual budgeting process

Responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of Client records including general ledger, Forest Ops and Budget Management System

Lead in the compilation of Budget and Forecast data for the Forest Ops and Budget Management Systems

Responsible for producing the monthly, quarterly and annual Budget Management System reports and supports the Forward Look / Backward Look presentation at managers' meetings

Assist in the development, implementation and documentation of accounting controls, processes and procedures

Assist in periodic audits of field offices for compliance with internal procedures

Assist in the month end client accounting close for CT3 and Great Plains

Assist with all reporting requests dealing with export deliveries, inventory and shipments

Review / reconcile all accounting data to ensure records are complete and accurate

Special projects as requested or needed

A bachelor's degree in Accounting

Minimum of three years general accounting experience

CPA, CMA or MBA credentials a plus

Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills

Knowledge of Microsoft computer software, with emphasis in Excel, and prior cost or operations accounting

Knowledge of database applications (SQL, MS ACCESS) a plus

Prior experience in budgeting/forecasting preferred

Great Plains general ledger accounting system experience and / or CT3 log accounting system experience a plus

Must be team player

Must be highly motivated and entrepreneurial

Strong oral and written communication skills
